Transcript

Central Park holds a special place in the American imagination, due in no small part to films utilizing the sweeping, glorious Manhattan park as a backdrop. Over the years, the park has come to define romance for New Yorkers with films such as Barefoot in the Park, When Harry Met Sally, Serendipity, and many others creating an atmosphere of love for moviegoers. The park has also served as the backdrop for leisure, entertainment, and fantasy. Scenes from musicals, such as Hair, place the park as central to magical scenes in NYC, while children have grown up watching Home Alone 2 and The Muppets Take Manhattan, reveling in their visions of the park as a place of mystery and adventure. Speaking of adventure, modern takes on the park as a setting for action, such as The Avengers, bring the wild beauty of the park through the seasons to a whole new audience.
